Drawn to the 19th Century
Colnaghi Elliott Master Drawings is delighted to present an exhibition of works on paper spanning the 19th century. From Academic works by Charles Verlat and Leopold Carl Müller, to recent rediscoveries such as the portrait of Aline Masson by Madeleine Lemaire, our exhibition will explore the art of drawing and watercolour throughout the century. The selection includes several portraits of artists, such as the enigmatic Juana Romani drawn by Victor Prouvé, an intimate portrait of the husband of Marthe de La Lyre Levesque and the arresting likeness of British artist William Rothenstein by his friend Emile Friant.
The works will be displayed in parallel with our exhibition ‘Sorolla: A Celebration of Life', featuring twelve exceptional painting by Joaquín Sorolla.
